Nasi Goreng Udang Kering

The meaning of Nasi Goreng is fried rice and udang kering is dried shrimp in English words. Collectively is known as dried shrimp fried rice.

In this recipe, I am going to give two version of sautéing ingredients for Nasi Goreng Udang Kering.

Both version is easy to made and yield the same result.

Version 1


  • 2 red onion
  • 1 garlic
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 teaspoon of dried shrimp (soaked for 30 minutes)
  • 1 plate rice
  • 1 cup mix vegetable
  • pinch of salt


  1. Pound the red onion and garlic using mortar and pestle until you get a rough paste.
  2. In a wok, pour the cooking oil and heat it up for 15 seconds.
  3. Then, put in the dried shrimp that has been soaked into the wok. Stir-fry the dried shrimp for 1 minute.
  4. Afterwards, add rice into the wok. Mix it well for five minutes.
  5. Add in mix vegetable and salt. Cook for another five minutes.
  6. Nasi Goreng Udang Kering is ready.

Version 2

This is version using Spicy Chilli Oil.


  • 2 tablespoon Spicy Chilli Oil
  • 2 tablespoon dried shrimp (soaked for 30 minutes) 
  • 1 cup mix vegetable
  • 1 plate rice
  • Pinch of salt


  1. Preheat Spicy Chilli Oil and add soaked dried shrimp. into the wok.
  2. Add rice and mix evenly for 3 minutes. Make sure the rice and dried shrimp mix well.
  3. Then add mix vegetable and salt. Cook for five minutes.
  4. Nasi Goreng Udang Kering is ready.
