The Journey Behind COCAKERY’s Buttercream Flower Cakes

Mini Flower Basket Cake by COCAKERY in Selayang

This is the story behind COCAKERY’s handmade buttercream flower cakes.

Every creation begins with inspiration.

Before COCAKERY’s buttercream flower cupcakes became what they are today, they started with a simple moment of admiration.

I once watched a YouTube video featuring a woman in Japan creating beautiful flower decorations for her cake shop.

Seeing how she transformed bean paste into delicate flowers fascinated me. It showed me that cakes could be more than just desserts — they could become a form of art and a way to express creativity.

It were banana cupcake with basic swirl and drizzled with coloured chocolate rice.

That moment planted a small dream in my heart.

However, turning that dream into reality required courage.

My only sister was the person who encouraged me to take the first step.

She believed in my potential and supported me in joining an intensive cake decoration class.

This design was the first flower cupcake I learned from watching an online video.

The class was held over five weekends, and it was a meaningful learning experience. During those sessions, I was introduced to many different types of cake decorating techniques, from basic piping skills to more detailed designs.

Among everything I learned, buttercream flowers and basket cake designs captured my heart the most.

Before attending the class, my decoration style was much simpler. I mainly created rosettes using different buttercream colours.

It was a good starting point, but I knew there was still so much more to learn.

With guidance from my teacher and continuous practice, my skills gradually developed.

I learned how different piping tips create different petals, how colours can be combined beautifully, and how patience plays an important role in creating handmade decorations.

Looking back at my earlier creations compared to my cakes today, I can see how much I have grown.

Every flower, every arrangement, and every detail represents countless hours of practice and the willingness to keep improving.

For me, creating buttercream flower cakes is not only about decorating a cake. It is about bringing beauty into someone’s special moments.

Each handmade flower carries a little part of my learning journey, my passion, and the encouragement from the people who supported me along the way.
